• Equine Facilitated Therapy program is now accepting applications for participants.

	The Facility
	The new Westwind Rodeo Academy indoor arena is nearing completion. Construction began in May and the building will be fully operational for Fall 2009 programming. The facility will appropriately be called "Simpson Stables" in recognition of Lloyd and Robert Simpson, who contributed a substantial donation to the program.

The Westwind Rodeo Academy [WRA] Sports Performance program offers after school rodeo event training for school age children. The events offered are related to the timed events only. We offer Team Roping, Tie Down Roping, Chute Dogging, Barrel Racing, Pole Bending, Breakaway Roping and Goat Tying.

Please see the PDF Application Form link to the left of this page for more information on the events, times and enrollment fees. Participants are responsible to provide their own transportation, horses and equipment for the classes. If a horse and equipment are not available, please contact the WRA office as we have some horses available for rental during the classes.

The Rodeo Sports Performance classes are meant to assist students in learning about basic horsemanship, equine animal husbandry, and how to be competitive in the chosen rodeo events. The instructors cover all areas related to the events including ground-work, mental preparation and applications and techniques used by successful rodeo competitors.

In the roping events, the students are offered an abundance of actual roping on live cattle. The barrel racers and pole benders have plenty of arena time and the goat tyers are provided plenty of practice stock.

Space is limited and your application will be subject to screening by the Sports Performance Administration team. We are currently accepting applications for Spring 2010.
